Carpenteria californica—bush anemone. Included in the CNPS Inventory of Rare and Endangered Plants on list 1B.2 (rare, threatened, or endangered in CA and elsewhere). Listed by the State of California as "Threatened." Limited natural range in Fresno County. First collected by John C. Fremont in 1845 during the course of one of his misadventures, rediscovered in 1875, and introduced to European gardens before 1880.
