Summary[edit] Description: Some gardeners seem to find that phrase 'moist but freely drained' perplexing. It sounds like an impossible balancing act, but if you think about it, freely drained needn't mean dry if the compost is absorbent and there's a damp soil below. At this stage the bed includes Sorbus reducta and poteriifolia, Geum pentapetala, Myrteola nummulariifolia, Soldanella alpina, Gentiana microdonta, decumbens and tibetica, Primula secundiflora, Aruncus aethusifolius, Salix reticulata and myrtilloides, Ozothamnus ledifolius, Ranunculus baurii, Blechnum penna-marina, Silene asterias, Stenanthium graminium, Veratrum nigrum.. other stuff I can't remember.. Aquilegia rockii.. Iris odaesanensis, Saxifraga Foundling, I think it'll be a good place for more mini Narcissus next autumn. I just added Aconitum anthora too - something I've been trying to get hold of for years. Date: 23 March 2011, 08:53. Source: Moist but freely drained... Author: peganum from Small Dole, England.
