Now this was one I didn't want to pick up. I haven't seen one of these in a long long time. It was fast, and vanished while I was digging through my bag to find something to contain it in while I took shots. I found I got the shudders when trying to corral it with my feet it climbed upon my shoes rapidly nearing my ankles, ack *** no! Nearly as bad as the episode of the wind scorpion in my pants overnight. Those things pack a pretty good bite by the way. I thought I was experiencing episodes of nerve pain. Found it under a board by Sweetwater reservoir. Spring Valley CA.
One of a few Tiger Centipedes that we found under a few coverboards across the site, during a warm (80+ degree F), sunny morning. This specimen specimen measured approximately 10 - 12 cm in length, and was found within a creek bed that is shaded by many Live Oak trees.
