This individual is from the large underground nest in our front yard (which we believe is feasting on rotting roots of the dead tree it lies under). We have scouts in our house often as well.

This ant was floundering around on a concrete block wall next to our driveway. After I took the photos I realized that this was because its right-side legs were gone.

Lots of these were crawling on the rocks and the sandy soil. I didn't notice an actual ant hill.

Locality: NEW ZEALAND AK, suburb of Saint Johns, University of Auckland Tamaki Campus. Habitat: Grass clippings. Identification: Tetramorium bicarinatum (Nylander, 1846). Worker. Notes: This may be the only individual that I have observed on campus here. Note the coarsely sculptured petiole and post-petiole (third photo), which distinguishes it from Tetramorium grassii, the only other species of the genus known to be present in N.Z.
