Elizabeth went to the quilt show in Plano, so I went to explore a nearby park for... a few hours. :)
-
watched this insect in the water, thought he'd fly off when he got up on the leaf but he went back in the water
-
seems to be a lot of leaf-footed bugs around the woods and creek area; not sure if this is the same species that I saw the next day in the water but this was very close to the same area

This bug is about an inch and a quarter long. It was able to fly, came out at night, and was attracted to light but never went too close to the light source.

The insect is about the size of a nickel. It was sitting on a branch of a plant in an arboretum, a forested area, sheltering itself from the rain. Although they're also found in other habitats too. These insects are very common in the Geneseo area.
