Locality: NEW ZEALAND AK, Auckland 1072, suburb of Saint Johns, University of Auckland Tamaki Campus. Habitat: Diurnally active on Phormium tenax. Identification: Hylaeus relegatus (Smith, 1876). Male.

Probably H. perhumilis or H. agilis. It foraged on Metrosideros excelsa flowers for several minutes then sat on a leaf, periodically regurgitating a small drop of liquid (presumably nectar) which it held in its mouthparts before swallowing it again. It did this several times.
