The following season, they built where they could command the pro-tection of their friends who had locks and keys. On Saturday morning,April 18, 1903, as I sat long at the breakfast table, idly watching theboughs blowing about in the high wind, my attention was attracted by apiece of white cord that came sailing across the upper sash of the window. Before I arose from the table the same, or a similar piece of cord blewacross that window for the third time. Then I bestirred myself, and wentout to see what wind was bringing us such an abundance of white string.Note About Images Please note that these images are extracted from scanned page images that may have been digitally enhanced for readability - coloration and appearance of these illustrations may not perfectly resemble the original work.
