We had many bats in our roof. We built a bathouse and transferred the bats from the roof to the bathouse. They were not impressed and flew away but three months later they were back. We now have about 30 to 40 living in the bathouse. This was not an easy project for us as we were terrified of bats but we now know lots more about them.

Saw these guys under the bridge at the San Bernard River at US90. I think they are Mexican free-tailed bats, but I'm not completely sure.

I believe this Myotis lucifugus. Sorry for the horrible pictures the zoom was doing terrible. But it was a dark brown almost black and only about 3 inches long. I think it has rabies because it has not moved from that spot since midday on Monday and I am posting this observation on Tuesday 2/17/15.

10-12 Million bats roost in this cave, the second largest bat population in the world. It's an incredible sight when they all fly out of the cave at dusk. We were told it takes 4 hours for them all to exit the cave.

This cave reportedly has 2 million bats living in it. We saw them start to leave at dusk, and they were still leaving an hour and a half later when we left.

I witnessed the bat emergence at Bracken Cave and a pup dropped to the rocks near us. A BCI volunteer, using gloves, gently released it into the air.
