Snapping turtle living in the lower turtle pond. It was underneath the water along the edge of the pond with only the tip of its snout out of the water.

Basking Snapping Turtle. I went down a steep, poison ivy- and pricker-filled embankment and clung by one arm to a sapling to get a good photo of this robust, mature individual. Allowed me to get quite close before making an exit. I like the action shot. Approximate carapace length 12-15 inches.
