"Large, 12""-15"" carapace, probably female snapping turtle crossed my path in the early evening. Very self-possessed and deliberate, this individual tolerated my interruption without making any defensive behavior, then went purposefully on its way. Got a couple of good shots of the ""eyes full of stars""!"

This old snapping turtle emerges from it's long winter hibernation at the bottom of the pond of my daughter's backyard possibly once every spring to sunbathe at the same rock! Other young snapping turtles were seen around.
