This fellow climbed out of Mary's Creek and up a large drainage toward Twilight Park. It was oddly calm, moving only its head up a bit to watch us then back down again. We were able to touch its shell and back foot. Perhaps this month's record rains have enabled its journey.

"A youngster, crawling around in the underbrush, close by to a wetlands. Carapace about 8"". Raised objections to handling, that is to say, hissing, opening mouth, turning to face the approaching hand. So, I did not force the issue. I have not encountered many juvenile snappers."
