Large bird, black bodied, yellow billed, with wide wingspread and long tail feathers. Has flight similar to a plantain eater and its wing edges fans out. Lives in forest areas and often seen in pairs or groups. It maintains a good distance from people and rests atop trees. It was captured calling in one of the images (taken early in the morning).

We have two or three types of hornbills nearby, I'm not sure if this is an African Pied hornbill or another species, I don't have my identification book in front of me. I think it's another species because of the red cheek. We see these often and when we don't see them we often hear them as they make quite a racket.
