The Brown Teal (Anas chlorotis) or New Zealand Teal, is a species of dabbling duck of the genus Anas. The Māori name for it is Pāteke. Zealandia, formerly known as the Karori Wildlife Sanctuary, is a protected natural area in Wellington, New Zealand, where the biodiversity of 225 ha of forest is being restored.
Note the smaller size relative to Branta canadensis (individual grazing with 8 B. canadensis adults), shorter, stubbier bill, darker color, and shorter neck.
