Many adults active in the afternoon from 14.00-20.30 but peak activity is 16.00-18.00. They have a nice dark metallic blue glint as they fly. Newly laid egg masses and early instar larvae grazing the surface of the underneath side of bamboo leaves are common.

The first moths of the season to emerge from overwintering pupae inside the house appeared two weeks ago (10 Sep 2016) and I saw a few outside a week later.

Many many adults hanging around my bamboo clump. They've been emerging since September and seem to be in full swing now. There are many mating pairs, and egg masses on underside of bamboo leaves.

Egg masses and first instar larvae grazing the lower epidermis of bamboo leaves. The bamboo will take a hammering this year, good news to those who dislike this invasive plant.

Apologies for the quality of the photos... only had my mobile phone and it was windy... and the caterpillar was scampering along at a steady rate.
