Poekilocerus bufonius is a unique, poisonous desert grasshopper. It has a yellow dotted black colour that allerts other animals not to deal with it. This insect eats foliage of poisonous plants like Calotropis procera (apple of Sodom). Here you can see a mating couple on a bark of Callotropis procera.

I know, many of u will be surprise, a botanist that suddenly uploads a scorpion pic...
Well this is the story, I was guiding a botanical tour in the Negev Highlands and suddenly this scorpion appeared between my legs - about 17 cm long! This is the largest scorpion in Israel and it was the first time for me to see it. I was very much excited and told the group that the 'guide' needs 2 minutes to take a picture. Its not the best pic, but I managed to capture it. The brownish legs, darker body, thick claws and large size are good characters of this species. I was told it doesn't kill, but can really hurt.
