Maximum longevity: 9.9 years (captivity)
Observations: One captive animal lived 9.9 years (Richard Weigl 2005). Although it is possible that maximum longevity is underestimated in this species, they are the smallest of the genus (Ronald Nowak 1999), which may explain their shortest lifespan. Further studies would be useful, however.
