Description: The bunches of fine bluegreen leaves (foreground) are characteristic of Idaho fescue, a bunchgrass that dominates much of the open upland steppe of Montana. Festuca campestris is the tallest bunchgrass in the very center of this photo. Artemisia frigida, Erigeron caespitosum, and Heterotheca villosa are some of the common herbs in this scene.
