"Apodemus sylvaticus Several individuals were examined for ectoparasites and screened molecularly for tick-borne diseases as part of an epidemiological study. The specimen shown on the photograph was caught on 21 October 2008 in Ast (district of Landshut), Bavaria, Germany. 48°28'47.66""N 12° 6'19.65""E Biotope: Mixed coppice. (This piece of woodland has been clear felled since!) Weather: Wet and sunny (16.3°C, 82% RH). The specimen shown on the photograph presented an unusual coat with elongated tie. It was identified based on external morphology, and species identification was then confirmed molecularly (cf. inset).
