At the last light on a rocky hill I found this lovery bulb. It grew in soil pockets between large rock bolders. annd as usual my ringflash came to the rescue.

Fritillaria hermonis is a shy bulb growing in the Mt Hermon region, I was lucky to see the first flower in bloom. It was very dark and cloudy, so I used my ringflash, the flower tends to shine in this situation.

It is found frequently in green flowers in the northern part of the country and has one purple flwoered population in the south. Blooming takes place in late February to mid March. The pending flowers are adapted to prtect the delicate pollen from the rain.
