Larva appears identical to Euphydryas chalcedona, but I don't think that species feeds on Castilleja at this location.

Most abundant species seen this day. Strong hill-topping late in the day.

Rounded wingtips, very red, hosts on Orobanchaceae and Plantaginaceae. There was certainly Castilleja, Pedicularis, and Plantago around. I think I saw some Penstemon heterophyllum at some point too. One of the most abundant butterflies of the day.
