En México existe la especie más grande conocida y lo llaman de diferentes formas: cancle, tendarapo, araña corazón, madre alacrán, entre otros muchos nombres. Las patas más largas simulan antenas, y tienen una función táctil, los palpos bien artillados le sirven para capturar a sus presas, con ellos pueden cazar y comer hasta crías de pequeños ratones. Summary[edit] Description: English: Arachnid in Cueva de los Tayos (this is what the people that lived there called it - I'm not sure if it is the famous Cueva de los Tayos, but at least it was close to that one), on the Yaupi River near where the trail to the town of Yaupi starts, in the Oriente in the Ecuadorian Amazon Basin. The trail starts around coordinates Object location2° 52′ 36″ S, 77° 56′ 02″ WView all coordinates using: OpenStreetMap -2.876667; -77.933889. Judging by internet photos it seems to be Phrynidae and possibly Heterophrynus, but this needs to be confirmed. Spider was probably five inches across. Date: 11 March 2011, 12:16.
