Laganum decagonale (Blainville 1827)

Description: test flat, thin, fragile, decagonal or almost rounded; margin thin; madreporic pores in a sinuous groove; oral furrows distinct up to half the test radius; periproct on the oral side, in the posterior interambulacrum, close to the posterior margin; five genital pores (Sastry, 1995). Habitat: subtidal silt and sandy beds (Sastry, 1995). Also distributed in W India, Pakistan, Bay of Bengal, East Indies, north Australia, Philippine, China and south Japan (Clark & Rowe, 1971); India (West Bengal), Orissa, Tamil Nadu and Kerala (Sastry, 1995); Australia (Rowe & Gates, 1995). General distribution: tropical, Indo-west Pacific Ocean, depth range 5-301 m. (Rowe & Gates, 1995); Indo-west Pacific (Sastry, 1995). Ecology: benthic, inshore, continental shelf, continental slope, deposit feeder (Rowe & Gates, 1995).
