Clypeaster rarispinus de Meijere 1903

Description: test flat, pentagonal, corners rounded, margin slightly thick; oral ambulacral furrows prominent up to the margin of the test; periproct on the oral side, close to the posterior margin, in the posterior interambulacrum; genital pores five (Sastry, 1995). Habitat: subtidal silty areas (Sastry, 1995). Also distributed in SE Arabia, Persian Gulf, W India, Pakistan, Maldive area, Ceylon, Bay of Bengal and East Indies (Clark & Rowe, 1971); Lakshadweep (India) in Sastry (1991); India (West Bengal), Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Lakshadweep and Karnataka (Sastry, 1995). General distribution: Red Sea and East coast of Africa to East Indies (Sastry, 1991); Indo-west Pacific (Sastry, 1995).
