Maximum longevity: 22.3 years (captivity)
Observations: These animals have been estimated to live more than 22 years (Ronald Nowak 1999), and one 22.3 years old record, which seems plausible, has been reported (Ernest 2003). Still, their record longevity in captivity is reported to be only 14.8 years (Richard Weigl 2005). Further studies are necessary.
