The Bermuda Rock Skink or Rock Lizard (Eumeces longirostris) is the only endemic terrestrial vertebrate animal of the Bermudas. It is a relatively large skink (a kind of lizard): adults reach an average snout-to-vent length of about 8 cm (a bit more than 3 inches).

This fluorescent little beauty was a really pleasant surprise find, whilst I was sweeping leaves in our garden, near Ho Chung, Sai Kung. It stayed still just long enough for me to get a few shots before it dashed off under the shed.
