Summary[edit] Description: English: A patch of corn chamomile (Anthemis arvensis L.) and stinking chamomile (Anthemis cotula L.) Both weeds prefer dry and warm spots and can be found on arable land with calcareous or sandy soils. In early surveys of Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Norfolk, corn chamomile was especially associated with temporary grass or clover seed crops, having been introduced as a contaminant with the crop seed. Corn chamomile has a faintly scented foliage. The leaves of the stinking chamomile have a distinct smell when bruised and they may cause blistering on contact with the skin. The ripe seeds are also said to cause blistering. Because of the smell the plant was used as an insect repellent in the past. It is also a mouse repellent and it can taint milk when eaten by dairy cows. Date: 14 September 2007. Source: From geograph.org.uk. Author: Evelyn Simak.
