Alisma gramineum is one of the rarest plants in Israel. It was found only in 1 location and got extince there. Plants were rescued by Atai Yoffe at his native plants garden and later given to the Jerusalem Botanical Gardens where this pic was taken.

The inflorescens of Aponogeton distachyos always amazes me. This year I managed to take again close ups of the flowers, some of which are under the water. In South Africa, its origin, the plant is edible and used in a special stew.

Damasonium polyspermum is a locally rare plant, it grows in wet places, just as they dry out in spring to late spring time. The starry frtuis and 3-petalled flowers are typical.

Potamogeton lucens is a fresh water aquatic plant. Like all of his kind in Israel it is endagered, due to habitat loss. Unfortunately, wetlands in Israel are rare, often over-used or poluted. These plants are grown by Dr Michael Avishai in the shelter garden for endangered plants at the Jerusalem Botanical Gardens. Theyt are grown in old-used bath tabs.

Arisarum vulgare is a small tuberous plant. It is common throughout the Mediterranean region in Israel, normally seen in leaves. Peculiarly, only small portion of the plants bloom. The strange inflroescence is also commonly called Aaron's Rod.
