The background of this flower was not satisfactory, I tried different angles and ended with the tree behind. The late-afternoon light helped.

Hesperantha cucullata is a South African bulb. It has three spreading anthers and three spreading shorter style lobes. Its nice and scented flowers open in the night. From the above they are just white, but below three sepals are purple.

Another beautiful flower of South Africa. It has tall (1m.) spike-like inflorescences. belonging to the iris family. It was rainy and very dark when we saw it, so I chose again the flash.

This beautiful crocus is found on volcanic soils in the Golan Heights and the eastern Galilee. It is local but quite common species, blooming in November-December with 3 other crocus species.

I found only 1 real crocus in my short visit to the Antalya region. Brian Mathew and Oron Peri identified it for me. It has tylicap white flowers, 3 anthers (like all real crocuses) and the orange style that is split into 3 branches from bottom.

Patersonia occidentalis is a SW Australian species. It is waterwise and hardy, blooming in spring to early summer.Like all patersinia species it has 3 petals and 3 anthers, hence its unusual appearence.

this beautiful flower was found on the wet slope north of Capetown. the inflorescences are ,ore than 1 m. tall, thus they are very impressive.

We found thgese crocus in wet places (melting snow water) near the village of Elmali. They were very variable. I was lucky to get the ID from the bulb and crocus expert - Brian Mathew.

Lots of flowers are in bloom in West Australia, although they say it is a dry year.

This amazing bulb emerge from the dryest rocky grounds. We were so surprised to see it, where there was almost none green vegetation. The leaves are veined - typical for Babiana species.

We were delighted to see many crocuses in the vicinity of Ha'on Cliffs above the Lake of Galilee, so we had flowers and amazing view. Additional flowers were : cyclamen, Sternbergia and Colchicum. More pics in the coming days.

This is a tiny bulb found in the Swartberg Pass north of Outshoorn ni the Cape. It was found in 1500 m. rocky wet slopes. I couldn't identify it properly, it is similar to Hesperantha humilis.
