One cannot imagine that this is a kinfd of lettuce. It is unique in having a tuber underground. The flowers open in nightime and normally close already in morning. In cloudy days they stay open, like this one. I was really lucky this time.

Siebera nana is a shy annual of arid mountains between Turkey and Israel-Jordan. It was hard to take a good pic on the ground so I listed the plant and took a pic with the sky background, after that I dispersed the seeds locally. In bloom is had dull pinkish flowers.

Solenopsis laurentia is a shy tiny Mediterranean flower. It is often annual, sometime perennial. Last year it was found for the first time in Israe, just by chance. Plantsman Shir Vered, found it in his photographs, he actually photographed another plant. Prof. Avi Shmida identified. I found it very difficult to photograph this tiny flower, this picture has the maximum magnification possible for me.

Asteriscus graveolens is a common desert perennial. It has peach scented leaves that are used for tea. I know this plant well form the Israeli deserts and was happy to find it so common also in Morocco. I used my pocket camera this time, just put it on the ground and pressed without even looking. I found this technique very useful for wide-angle - habitat pics.

Echinops cornigerus is very common in the Indus Valley. It grows in roadsides as well as in screes and stony places.

Lasiopogon muscoides is a small desert annual, common in the Arabian Deserts. Here u can see is it full bloom, the tiny flowers are almost hidden in the wooly, cushion-like plant.
