In Junction for the Texas Academy of Sciences conference -- after the final awards ceremony thing, I came back to campus and walked around looking for more moths. :) I'll spend lots of time trying to ID the moths with the discover life moth guide: http://www.discoverlife.org/mp/20q?guide=Moth&cl=US/TX&flags=HAS:

found this moth on the ceiling of an outside covered walkway near a light. I suspect it had been attracted by the light at night and stayed there during the day where I came across it. Wingtip to wingtip approx. 1.5 inches.

Another first-of-season at the blacklight--and a very fresh attractive example of this species. FW 20 mm.
