Marsh Tit (Parus palustris)

In some of these shots the clear identifier for the Marsh Tit over the Willow Tit can be seen. According to Mark Fellowes, who left a comment on my blog, Marsh Tits have a pale patch which can be seen on the cutting edge of the proximal end of the upper mandible. Willow tits have a uniformly dark bill, and this is the only reliable visual cue to tell the species apart. Not a great field character, but good with decent photos or in the hand. http://mark-badgerseye.blogspot.com/2010/01/marsh-tit-or-willow.html
