This is sometimes called Midshipman, because of thebright metallic spots over the head and body, like the buttons on amidshipmans uniform of years ago. These spots are providedwith a lens, connective tissue capsule and a reflector, and are sup-posed to be luminous. Mola mola Linnaeus A small specimen of this head-fish, or sunfish, was brought to usby the fisherman. W. A. H. Note on the Sea Urchins of Laguna Beach Due to the kindness of Dr. H. L. Clark of Harvard, we are ablenow to have some clearer idea about the number of species of seaurchins found at Laguna. Strongyloceutrotus ptirpiiratiis Stimp This is our most common species. It occurs by the hundreds insoNote About Images Please note that these images are extracted from scanned page images that may have been digitally enhanced for readability - coloration and appearance of these illustrations may not perfectly resemble the original work.
