Colonies are arborescent, small, usually forming thickets. Branches are slender and straight. Radial corallites are small, numerous and of the same size. Colour: usually pale grey, sometimes brown or cream. Abundance: occupies most reef environments but is uncommon except on turbid water or in sandy lagoons where colonies frequently exceed 2 m in diameter (Veron, 1986).
