Anguilla anguilla (European Eel) is a species of ray-finned fishes in the family freshwater eels. They are listed as critically endangered by IUCN. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are carnivores. Individuals are known to live for 88 years and can grow to 150 cm. Reproduction is oviparous and semelparous.
