With very poor rainfall, salmon runs are small this year; but still impressive for a Californian. What we saw several times were runs of Dog salmon. Why 'Dog'? Evidently because the fastidious locals see this species as mainly only good for dog food. However, marketeers are at work trying to rebrand these as 'keta', or 'silverbright' salmon. Bon appetite!
