Much less common than it's half-banded cousin, this banded seaperch took off as we approached at the Colours.

A cryptic species that you have to look hard for. I couldn't record this on my RLS survey as I used a torch to find it - oh well!

H. annulatus is the least common of the sea perches and is not often seen. This is due in part to it's habit of living upside-down "suspended" from the roof of caves. Like a bat, but underwater. This photo was taken at Shark Point in Sydney.
