This stuff was simply everywhere! Amusingly, I've seen photos of this particular and very distinctive (the split branch) fruiting body a couple of times on the Tasmanian Fungi Facebook page. We weren't the only ones to see and photograph it! :-)Photographed in the Blue Tier on the Goblin Forest track.
At first I thought this was Clavulinopsis sulcata, but when I looked at all the other photos we'd taken at the time in the area, I'm now not so sure. www.flickr.com/photos/gugglebun/14957997718/in/set-721576...www.flickr.com/photos/gugglebun/14957902700/in/set-721576...www.flickr.com/photos/gugglebun/15144179732/in/set-721576...This particular outcrop was of mostly single, almost cylindrical rods, poking up through the lichen. They aren't grooved or branched like the other fungi and they are also a deeper colour. It really has the look of Clavulinopsis amoena, except that it is deep orange in colour.www.flickr.com/photos/gugglebun/14801615153/in/set-721576...Bruce Fuhrer has in his field guide a species called Clavulinopsis corallinorosacea. I looked it up on the Atlas of Living Australia and there are no records of it being in Tasmania. It's a pity I couldn't get a collection as looking at the spores would immediately clear up my confusion.Photographed in the Blue Tier on the Goblin Forest track.
