Reputed to be excellent for lawns. It is common in littoral regions in Taiwan, and is also found in Lanhsu. (Botel Tobago).

Zoysia matrella (L.) Merr.subsp. tenuifolia Koyama, Grass. Jap. Neighb. Reg. 289. 1987.
Culm densely tufted, with long stolon. Blade 4-5 cm lon up to 1 mm wide; ligule 0.3 mm long, upper part a fringe of hairs; sheath-mouth with long silky hairs. Inflorescence a single raceme, about 1 cm long, straw colored. Spikelets 1-flowered about 2 mm long, lanceolate; lower glume wanting; upper glume as long as the spikelet, coriaceous, except the upper margin, 5-nerved, ovate; lemma nearly as long as the upper glume, subcoriaceous, but margins membranous, 1-nerved; palea and lodicule reduced; anther 0.6-0.8 mm long.
