Photographed on 15 March 2009.Found living under bark on eucalypt tree."There are parts needed for ID that aren't in the photos. However, the banded millipede is almost certainly a Heterocladosoma. Description: Oxidus gracilis, the greenhouse millipede, is native to Asia, but now found all over the world as an invasive species (thanks largely to imported greenhouse plants, hence the name). It's easily recognized as a member of the Paradoxosomatidae family by the deep grooves in its segments. This is an especially useful identification tool in North America, where no native paradoxosomatids exist. This one was found in the woods in Maryland, summer of 2006.
