Summary[edit] Description: English: Trichopoda plumipes - Meadowwood Farm SRMA, Mason Neck, Virginia. The feathers on the hind legs are rather pretty. These flies parasitize stink bugs, so are a very useful fly to have around. Date: 21 September 2012, 16:45:29. Source: https://www.flickr.com/photos/52450054@N04/8012040914/. Author: Judy Gallagher.

Summary[edit] Description: English: Feather-legged Fly - Trichopoda lannipes- Julie Metz Wetlands, Virginia. This is a Tachinid fly, known for its feathery legs. It's a fairly big fly - I originally thought it was a reasonable-sized wasp. Date: 13 June 2012, 18:55:48. Source: https://www.flickr.com/photos/52450054@N04/7370413840/. Author: Judy Gallagher.
Had an incredible time exploring with @bob777 and @squaylei2000 -- great botanists and friends and with Jeanne. Jeanne owns over 100 acres next to this lake, and because this is private land, I'm obscuring the locations of these observations. It was an AWESOME day to see lots of new plants for me, and of course, several new bugs too. :)
