They are native to Puerto Rico, The Hawaiian Islands, North America, US Minor Outlying Islands, Pacific Basin excluding Hawaii, U.S. Virgin Islands, Hawaii, The Contiguous United States, and Eastern North America. They have loculicidal capsule fruit.
