Very Lackey BlackyWell the weather has been very up and down with some breezy and very wet nights, but with decent night time temperatures at least.Tuesday night was no different. We did get a shower sometime during the night as the perspex collar had rain-drops on it, but at the time of emptying the trap it was nice and dry. Some more fantastic moths were to be observed. Lackey made it onto the 2014 list, after I recorded it a day earlier last year, but the best moth was a Waved Black a garden first and Macro number 247 for the garden. Three Trachycera suavella's were the best of the Micro's.I have yet to see a Trachycera advenella, although my records seem to indicate it flying more end of July/early August.Catch Report - 08/07/14 - Back Garden Stevenage - 1x 125w MV Robinson TrapMacro Moths1x Waved Black [NFG]1x Lackey [NFY]1x Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing [NFY]2x Least Carpet [NFY]5x Bright-line Brown-eye3x Brimstone Moth1x Buff Arches2x Buff-tip2x Cloaked Minor1x Clouded Border22x Common Footman1x Common Pug7x Commo Rustic1x Common Wainscot7x Dark Arches1x Dingy Shears17x Dot Moth5x Double Square-spot2x Dun-bar2x Dwarf Cream Wave1x Flame1x Flame Shoulder3x Heart & Club18x Heart & Dart1x July Highflyer1x Large Nutmeg1x Marbled Minor7x Mottled Rustic1x Peppered Moth1x Privet Hawk-moth6x Riband Wave2x Rustic1x Scalloped Oak1x Setaceous Hebrew Character1x Small Emerald3x Small Fan-footed Wave2x Smoky Wainscot2x Snout43x Uncertain Micro Moths 3x Trachycera suavella [NFY]2x Acleris forsskaleana4x Endotricha flammealis1x Emmelina monodactyla1x Eurrhypara hortulata1x Epiblema uddmanniana1x Phycita roborella1x Udea olivalis2x Cnephasia sp3x Udea prunalis1x Carcina quercana1x Paraswammerdamia nebulella1x Orthopygia glaucinalis1x Elachista albifrontella1x Epagoge grotiana2x Crambus pascuella3x Celypha lacunana1x Zeiraphera isertana2x Amblyptilia acanthadactyla2x Celypha striana15x Chrysoteuchia culmella2x Dipleurina lacustrata

Catch Report - Braughing 19/07/12 - 1x 125w MV Robinson Trap Well, i'm nearly at the end of trapping regularly on the farm with just a few more nights up until Tuesday to give it a last shot for something new. Luckily the weather will be on my side for once! Last night produced a staggering amounts of moths, even more than the previous night with highlights being Waved Black and Slender Brindle. Rufous Minor was new for me and the farm after being dissected by Colin today. Agapeta zoegana was a nice micro to get and one I hardly see. The Footmen are out in force now with high numbers of both Common and Scarce. Catch Report - Braughing 22/07/12 - 1x 125w MV Robinson TrapAnother great catch and still ticking over quite nicely.A good variety but as the trend continues this year, numbers are down quite considerably.Scarce Silver-lines was probably the best Macro Moth, having only seen 2 previous to this one and Teleiopsis diffinis and Argyresthia bonnetella were 2 new Micro's for my records (shame it flew off just as I went to photograph it)The next few nights look even warmer, tonight I shall be trapping for the very last time on the farm for awhile, and then on Tuesday I shall be back to Gade Springs in Hemel Hempstead.Catch Report - Braughing 22/07/12 - 1x 125w MV Robinson Trap and 1x 160w MBT Robinson Trap Macro Moths1x Scarce Silver-lines [NFY]2x Waved Black2x Latticed Heath1x Yellow Shell 2x Buff-tip3x Peppered Moth1x Buff Arches4x Snout14x Dark Arches3x Beautiful Hook-tip19x Common Footman6x Uncertain2x Scalloped Oak1x July Highflyer11x Broad-bordered Yellow Underwing10x Large Yellow Underwing2x Dun-bar2x Riband Wave1x Heart & Dart3x Lesser Yellow Underwing1x Yellow-tail2x Poplar Grey5x Light Arches5x Mottled Rustic5x Dwarf Cream Wave7x Common Rustic1x Pos Lesser Common Rustic3x Privet Hawk-moth2x Poplar Hawk-moth2x Southern Wainscot1x Drinker1x Engrailed15x Smoky Wainscot3x Clay2x Setaceous Hebrew Character1x Flame2x Least Carpet1x Dot Moth1x Swallow-tailed Moth1x Dingy Footman2x Rustic1x Bright-line Brown-eye2x Single-dotted Wave1x Nut-tree Tussock1x Small Emerald1x Purple Thorn1x Scarce Footman1x Clouded Silver1x Ghost Moth2x Green Pug1x Willow Beauty1x Short-cloaked Moth3x Common Wainscot5x Common Rustic1x Pos Lesser Common RusticMicro Moths1x Teleiopsis diffinis [NEW!] 1x Argyresthia bonnetella [NEW!]3x Eucosma campoliliana [NFY]1x Argyresthia brockeella [NFY]1x Ancylis achatana 1x Blastodacna hellerella 3x Udea prunalis2x Cochylis hybridella2x Endothenia gentianaeana1x Acleris forsskaleana3x Mompha ochraceella11x Brown House-moth Hofmannophila pseudospretella4x White-shouldered House-moth Endrosis sarcitrella2x Case-bearing Clothes Moth Tinea pellionella1x Large Tabby Aglossa pinguinalis3x Endotricha flammealis1x Batia lunaris 1x Sitochroa verticalis2x Lathronympha strigana2x Phlyctaenia coronata2x Aethes cnicana1x Monochroa palustrella2x Diamond-back Moth Plutella xylostella2x Epiblema sp1x Bee Moth Aphomia sociella9x Mother of Pearl Pleuroptya ruralis1x Bud Moth Spilonota ocellana7x Coleophora sp6x Metzneria lappella5x Agapeta hamana 2x Yponomeuta sp2x Batia unitella55x Chrysoteuchia culmella3x Phycita roborella2x Celypha striana1x Dipleurina lacustrata2x Barred Fruit-tree Tortrix Pandemis cerasana2x Large Fruit-tree Tortrix Archips podana5x Endotricha flammealis4x Cnephasia sp1x Ephestia parasitella2x Eucosma cana3x Eudonia mercurella 1x Emmelina monodactyla2x Bramble Shoot Moth Epiblema uddmanniana3x Celypha lacunana2x Crambus perlella2x Marbled Orchard Tortrix Hedya nubiferana3x White Plume Moth Pterophorus pentadactyla6x Small Magpie Eurrhypara hortulata2x Catoptria falsella
