One of my favorite robber flies. We don't see them every year, but several were found recently by ericisley and they are hanging around an area we used to have them a few years back.

Within the U.S., Eccritosia zamon only occurs in parts of Texas and Oklahoma I believe. We don't see this species every year but the last several years it has been around each summer. One of my favorite robber flies.

There are definitely more of this species around this summer than we usually see.

ericisley and I found an abundance of this species at Pedernales Falls this morning. One of my favorite robber flies. Essentially this species is mainly known only from a few areas of Texas, but there is a record from AZ on Bugguide: http://bugguide.net/node/view/326247/bgimage The species apparently ranges south to Panama.
