An odd tachinid fly found resting on vegetation near some peony flowers. Identified by an expert on BugGuide as Cholomyia inaequipes. The long middle legs are apparently distinctivebugguide.net/node/view/53615
This one has me stumped. I assumed Long Legged Fly, of course, but there is no metallic coloring, and the size was larger than say Condylostylus. Also, this one seems to have a white collar that I do not see on other LLF.
