This shrew was killed in a mousetrap. It is the largest shrew I have observed. The body was approximately 9 cm. long and the tail was approximately 3 cm. long. The relative shortness of the tail in relation to the body and the relatively dark belly fur lead me to believe that this is a northern short-tailed shrew. The odd shape on the end of the nose is dried blood.
