Seen scurrying across Canyon Ridge trail. When pursued, sought shelter under Walnut Shell fossils or leaves. Very agile. Common name is orange antmimic. Resembles velvet ants (which are actually wasps), which prey on spiders. Perhaps appearing to be a 'velvet ant' is a defense mechanism to protect against predation.

After Elizabeth went to several quilt stores in Sanger, Whitesboro, and Denton, we got to go to Ray Roberts Lake State Park! :) We really enjoyed the northern part of the park (Johnson Branch) -- the trails were great! :)
Came early to help out with a cooking class this evening at the Central Market in Southlake... This was a wild game cooking class where I spoke about the role of hunting in conservation. It was fun! Beforehand, I visited a park and the side of a road. :)
