The smaller one (Male ?) was dancing around the larger one (Female ?) and would stop every few seconds to dispay by opening it's wings for a second.The smaller one was at all times facing the larger one.

"Went looking for 980046 but couldn't spot them in the area of that observation. On the way back down the track I spotted some little black cylinders in a dark crevice in a taupata tree, looked about the size of some insect droppings. This is what I saw, looks like full winged versions of that first observation but about 100m away. The markings and triangle of three ""eyes"" on the forehead make me think of cicadas."
