Summary[edit] Description: English: Male and female Florida fairy shrimp, Dexteria floridana. Originally found in a pool near Gainesville, Florida in 1953 by Ralph Dexter. This crayfish is grown in salted water. Their homeland is rivers and lakes, and salt was originally destructive for them. In the process of evolution, they simply learned to incredibly effectively remove salt from their bodies.
