Boehmeria tricuspis is a weed belonging to the nettle family. It grows in E Asia from China to Japan. The leaves are cooked and eaten.

Crataegus monogyna is a common European tree. In N Israel it reaches its southern border and bedomes rare.

Malus orientalis is a wild crab apple, closely related to the European M. sylvestris. It belongs to the gene pool form which some of the cultivated apples derive.

this shrub is common along the upper Jordan river valley and in the adjascent regions, such as the Upper Galilee where this pic was taken. The species has disjunct distribution appearing again in Iberia (thanks to Ferran J Lloret for the info) and Morrocco in the west Med. region.

Ceanothus megacarpus (Mountain Lilac) is a Californian species typical for coastal scrub. At the Jerusalem Botanical Gardens we have one shrub, it is not very showy, but the ring flash brings (as usual) its beauty out.
