Summary[edit] Description: This photo, taken June 28, 2013, shows only a small patch of the Avalanche Lilies that are carpeting some of the hillsides along Stevens Canyon Road. One would almost think the slopes were covered in snow again! It actually takes Avalanche Lilies several years before they are mature enough to flower which only makes these blooms all the more beautiful. Date: 2 July 2013, 11:48. Erythronium multiscapideum 'Cliftonii'—Clifton's Fawn Lily. The label at Regional Parks Botanic Garden reads "Erythonium 'Cliftonii' INED", which means that the name is taxonomically illegitimate. The plants are probably best considered as a naturally occurring form of Erythronium multiscapideum to be found in cliffs at the northeastern edge of the Sacramento Valley. It is available in the trade, both in the United States and abroad, as "Erythronium cliftonii". Confused? so is everybody else.
